Well it depends ....I rented the hall and food for 235 people and it was very inexpensive, a good deal
Yes
I was just taught that he used to own a burger place across from this place (this was around the time McDonald's got big) and used to go there for lunch every day. One day he had asked how they did it and they took him to the back and showed him, once that happened that's when he had decided to go make Taco Bell. It was something different because around this time tacos were basically introduced to the US although yes there were other things that were already known around that time such as tamales
The Mitla Cafe is the best genuine Mexican Cafe on Route 66.
Awesome Mexican food. Home of the taco that inspired Taco Bell, but obviously much better tasting. Had both ground beef and shredded beef versions. Both had plenty of meat, lettuce, and cheese. Make sure to add their fresh salsa on anything you order.
I love this place. I've been coming here since I was a little kid. Best beans ever and chips and salsa is soooooo good. I get the Irene special and it never disappointed me. Also the flour tortillas are hand made and so goid. Also I would highly recommend the cocido and the pozole too. I love this place. Authentic Mexican food.
Really nice venue. Food is great and staff is super friendly.
Huevos Ranchero it's the bomb. Very very very good.
Came from Lancaster, was not disappointed. Seriously the best Mexican food I've had in a long time. Pozole was delicious and the shredded chicken and beef tacos were incredible- the shells were freshly fried and the meat was tender and juicy and hot. No wonder this place has been open 82 years.. we will definitely be coming back!
This spot sure knows how to take care of their customers. Constantly with a super friendly attitude. The food is conveniently priced, constantly delightful and clean.
The food was good but the service was even better. The servers were very helpful and attentive.
The warm bean salad! Ughhhh! I could eat it every day. And I have for the last three days!
Food was great, parking was off site but seemed safe enough for lunch
This place is great! Good prices, big portions and the employees are constantly super friendly.
Excellent service and food. Great atmosphere. Highly recommend. Great Route 66 stop. I had a combination platter and my husband had beef enchiladas. Huge serving and good prices.
Love love love this place . Great food and great service . Prices are really reasonable and it’s clean
Really great food and such friendly service! What's not to love about this place? We had curbside pick up and our food was brought out super quick. I do advise you call ahead, tho. It'll make the wait time much smaller and the food comes out faster. Love it here! I drive about 40 minutes for their burritos, alone!
Went for an early weekday lunch and really enjoyed my meal! The special was a $10 mini plate that was really big and had 3 mini entrees! The historic building is modest on the outside but it's such a treat on the inside!
This place is well worth a visit. Across the street from Mitla , was the location of Bell’s Burgers. Glen Bell noticed how busy Mitla’s was ,and ended up duplicating their cuisine and founding Taco Bell. Mitla Cafe was founded in 1937 and is one of the first Mexican restaurants in the US. The food is really good. The ambiance is really cool. My beef tacos had real steak in them and not ground beef. Little things make a difference! Cesar Chavez loved the place and frequently visited. Located on the iconic Route 66 this place is iconic in its own right.
Food and service consistantly good! 👏
Always the best , fries are on point. Never disappoints. So glad they open back up.
I really enjoyed their dishes. I always get awesome customer service here. The place is well kept and the staff members are always super friendly. I highly recommend this place.
Always amazing food here! Don't be fooled by the plain exterior, it is updated and up kept inside. The food has been amazing since I was a child. Not a thing on the menu I don't enjoy. Today was the Huevos Rancheros in the picture that is a half order! Go there and be prepared to wait but I promise it is worth it.
Very Good Food. Very Good Service.. Really Nice Staff. Kinda Pricey But Worth It. Chips & Salsa Are Always Bomb.
Amazing food. Cool atmosphere. Awesome history. The tacos were the highlight. Clearly fresh made shells. I traveled a long way to stop by Mitla and I would do it again!
Great food and service! The parking was convenient and the atmosphere was family like! Loved it!
Everyone I know loves this place and I respect its legacy, and I’m all for it, but for some apparent reason I get the shaft every time, I order here as I watch my party enjoy the food & all I can say is I enjoyed the homemade flour tortillas. I got 3 small pieces a meat In my huevos rancheros once and the second time I honestly don’t remember but I’m guessing a problem with consistency. Great location, banquet hall available, great Chicano ambience that screams the Culture and always run into lifelong friends when I go. Prices are good I highly recommend and I will be back to maybe one day be satisfied as my family and friends always are.
I would have given this visit five stars but the waitress messed up the order. Normally five stars. I ordered the menudo, best around. My sister had the Chile Colorado but instead she got Chile Verde. Took a long time for the girl to correct the order. My friend ordered an Enchilada and Taco. Second basket of chips was not offered for the long wait.
Homestyle Mexican food. Love the Breakfast with Homemade Pappas and Frijoles. Love the Fresh Salsa and Chips. The Service is great and the restaurant is clean.
Love it here. The Peggy's special was Great! My new favorite
Great historic place to eat. It is one of the oldest Mexican restaurants in the nation. The restaurant was busy but we still got good service. The chorizo and potatoes were excellent. They no longer make buñuellos, that are still listed on the menu, so we ordered churros instead. We will be returning soon.
